* 빼다 has the meanings as follows :
1) (속의 것·박힌 것을) take[put] out; get out; draw[pull / pluck] out; extract; (물을) draw off[pump out] ; drain off[away]
- 서랍을 빼다 : pull[draw] out a drawer
- 이를 빼다 : extract[draw / pull out] a tooth / (남의 손을 빌려) have a tooth out
- 타이어의 공기를 빼다 : let the air out of a tire
- 목욕탕의 물을 빼다 : drain the water from the bathtub / let the water run out of the tub
- 반지를 빼다 : take a ring off one's finger
- 권총을 빼다 : draw a revolver
- 칼을 번개같이 빼다 : whip out a sword
- (구경하려고) 목을 길게 빼다 : crane one's neck
2) [=감하다] subtract ; [=공제하다] deduct[subtract] ; take away[off]
- 급료에서 1할을 빼다 : deduct 10％ from the salary
- 급료에서 세금을 뺀 금액 : the amount (left) after taxes are deducted from one's salary
- 5에서 3을 빼다 : subtract 3 from 5
- 10에서 4를 빼면 6이 남는다 : 4 from 10 leaves 6. / Ten minus four equals[is equal to] six
3) [=없애다] take out; eliminate; remove; (때를) wash off; [=제외하다] exclude; except; get out ; [=생략하다] leave[cut] out; omit; skip; pass over
- 얼룩을 빼다 : remove a stain
- 관계없는 항목 등을 빼다 : leave out[exclude] irrelevant items
- 서론은 빼고 본론에 들어가자 : Let's leave out[omit] the preliminaries and go straight to the point
- 식대는 팁을 빼고 만 원이었다 : The restaurant bill was ten thousand won without[excluding] the tip

- 힘을 빼다 : weaken / enfeeble
- 살을 빼다 : lose weight
- 김을 빼다 : stale / make stale[flat / vapid]
5) [=짐짓 꾸미다] make an affected pose; assume airs[an air of importance]; give oneself airs[frills /the dog / lugs]
- 점잔을 빼다 : be prudish[genteel] / do the genteel
6) [=회피하다] evade; shirk ; give an evasive answer; excuse oneself; dodge; shuffle out of ; [=손떼다] draw back; resile
- 발을 빼다 : shirk[evade] one's responsibility / shuffle off[out of] one's responsibility / be freed from one's responsibility
7) [=내빼다] run[scamper / scoot] away; make[take] off
- 몰래 빼다 = 몰래 내빼다 = 몰래 도망가다 : sneak [slip] away[off]
8) [=차려 입다] dress[smarten] oneself up; adorn[preen] oneself; doll (oneself) up
- 오늘은 쪽 빼셨군요 = 오늘은 멋지게 차려입었셨군요 : You are quite dressed up today, aren't you?
- 그는 쪽 빼고 있었다 = 그는 옷을 아주 멋지게 입고 있었다 : He was dandified all over
8) 빼도 박도 못하다 = 이러지도 저러지도 못하다 : someone got stuck in something
- 빚이 쌓여서 빼도 박도 못하게 되었다 : He got mired down with accumulated debts. / He got stuck in the mire[bog] of accumulated debt
