Kim Soo-chul's "Byeol-ri," reminiscent of a piece of pansori, is considered a masterpiece of his first album released in 1983 along with "A Flower That Has Not Bloomed." It is a very different song from "Seven-Colored Rainbow," which was sung when the group was a small giant. It can be seen as a Korean traditional music song that was born after his attempt to incorporate Korean emotions into rock music.

At first glance, this song sounds like a love song, which feels like listening to a piece of Korean folk song. 

I can feel the longing and resentment for "Nim" who leaves me. However, the reason why Kim Soo-chul made this song is completely wrong. December 1, 1980 at midnight. Kim Soo-chul wrote the song after listening to the farewell broadcast of TBC (Oriental Broadcasting) radio, which was closed due to the Chun Doo-hwan administration's measures to close the media. Announcer Hwang In-yong expressed his regret for closing the door with a tearful voice to the listener. Kim Soo-chul talked about the fate of the radio, which is forced to close by the power of the regime, saying, "If you go without a word, I look at you without a word, and I cry." At first, it was not a song about longing for Nim, but a more straightforward and rebellious song, but it was not able to pass the deliberation of the Performance Ethics Committee at the time, so the lyrics were changed with Nim.

However, for any reason, it is clear that "Byeol-ri" is a mournful love song because the song is up to the listeners. Since then, Kim has been striving to complete Korean rock music while pursuing harmony between the East and the West. Starting with the movie Whale Hunt in 1984, he also played a major role in the development of film music such as Chilsu and Mansu, Seopyeonje, and Taebaek Mountains. On the other hand, he also released notable Korean traditional music albums such as <Hwangcheon-gil>, <Bullim Sound>, and <80,000 Daejanggyeong>. Kim Soo-chul lived with music without drinking or smoking. He is still a little giant who lives without losing the boy's smile.
