* -겠-  has the foowing usages

(1) An ending of a word referring to a future event or assumption

- 지금 떠나면 새벽에 도착하겠구나 : If you leave now, you'll arrive at dawn

- 잠시 후면 대통령 내외분이 식장으로 입장하시겠습니다 : In a moment, the first lady and the president will enter the ceremony

- 고향에서는 벌써 추수를 끝냈겠다 : My father must have finished his harvest in my hometown

(2) An ending of a word referring to the speaker's will

- 나는 시인이 되겠다 : I will be a poet

- 이 정도의 고통은 내 힘으로 이겨 내겠다 : I will overcome this much pain on my own

- 동생은 낚시하러 가겠다고 한다 : My younger brother says he'll go fishing

(3) An ending of a word referring to a possibility or ability

- 그런 것은 삼척동자도 알겠다 : That's understood even child

- 이걸 어떻게 혼자 다 하겠니? : How can I do this all by myself?

(4) An ending of a word referring to an attitude of speaking indirectly

- 들어가도 좋겠습니까? : Would you mind coming in?

- 내가 말해도 되겠니? : Can I talk to you?

- 이제 그만 돌아가 주시겠어요? : Would you mind going back now?

- 너는 공부를 좀 더 열심히 해야 하겠다 : You should study harder

- 네가 와 주면 고맙겠구나 : I'd appreciate it if you could come

(5) An ending of a word that conveys the meaning, "if one considers or examines something, it will become a certain way

- 별사람을 다 보겠다 = 너 정말 이상한 사람이구나 : You're such a weird person
