Let’s learn about "물건”(a thing)

This word usually used in Korean daily life because we Koreans call all things as “물건” when we don’t know or remember its name correctly.

Of course, in the Jeolla region(전라도 지역), instead of the word "물건," people in the region often say "거시기".

1. “일정한 형체를 갖추고 있는 모든 물질적 존재” 혹은 “사고파는 물품”을 “물건”이라고 정의한다.("All material beings with a fixed form" or "objects that are bought and sold" are defined as "a thing[물건]")

2. 물건[物件] means the follwoings  from Korean Dictionary

(1) [=물체] a thing; a stuff; an object; [=상품•물품] product, item, article, commodity; an article; <집합적(collective)> goods or stocks; [=재료] material; stuff; [=재고품] stock; [=소유물] a possession

• 조상 전래의 물건 : ancestral goods

• 비싼 물건을 사다 : Buy expensive items

• 과세 물건 : an object of taxation / a taxable object

• 증거 물건 : material evidence

• 물건을 탐내다 : lust for[after] things

• 물건이 떨어지다 : be out of stock / run out

• 물건이 풍부하다[적다] : be well-[ill-]stocked

• 이 종류의 물건은 재고가 떨어졌습니다 : Articles of this kind are out of stock

• 물건이 부족해지고 있다 : Goods are running short

• 새로운 물건을 들여놓다 : have new products

• 물건 계약 : a real contract

• 물건 목록 : an inventory

• 물건 압류 : attachment of objects. 

(2) [=품질] quality; [=품종] a brand; a line

• 물건이 좋다 : be of good[fine] quality

• 물건이 나쁘다 : be of bad[coarse / poor] quality

(3) [=특이하고 대단한 사람] a peculiar and extraordinary person

• 저 녀석 참 물건이네 or 저 녀석 참 대단하지 그지? : He's really something
