Let's learn about "~어요/~아요"

종결어미로서 서술·청원·의문의 뜻을 나타냄 : this is ending suffix make a sentence descriptive or requesting or imperative.

1) 어미 ‘-아’에 조사 ‘요’가 합쳐서 된 하오체 종결 어미.
     끝 음절이 양성 모음(ㅏ·ㅗ)으로 된 용언의 어간에 붙음.
    : it is from “아” + “요”.
      and used to the same age or the younger.
      it is attached last positive vowel (ㅏ·ㅗ) of a before-word

[예] 맛이 좋아요 : it is delicious.
       자, 받아요 : here it is; here! take it.
       문을 닫아요? : shall i close the window ?

2) 어미 ‘-어’에 조사 ‘요’가 합쳐서 된 하오체 종결 어미.
     끝 음절이 ‘ㅏ·ㅗ’ 이외의 모음을 가진 어간에 붙음
    : it is from “어” + “요”.
      and used to the same age or the younger.
      it is attached last vowel (except ‘ㅏ·ㅗ’) of a before-word

[예] 제가 가겠어요 : i’ll go (right now)
       여기 있어요 : here you go
       보기 싫어요? : don't you want to see it ?
